A Mischief Of Magpies

If the Sun were the size of a beach ball then Jupiter would be the size of a golf ball and a Mischief of Magpies would be as small as a pea.

Merry Christmas! I wonder when we started to celebrate Christmas in our country. The new year's days, Jan.1-3, should be bigger days to us. Children get Christmas present from their parents, grand parents and Santa Claus and then, OTOSHIDAMA, which is some good amount of money, about a week later. Since Japanese parents are supposed to give OTOSHIDAMA not only to their own children but also others, they're very afraid of family reunions. Their purses are getting slender at this time of year.

Hello May,

New Year or Hogmany is quite big in Scotland too, although rather than give gifts everyone just gets very drunk.

Is it only little children that get OTOSHIDAMA or do people give to their grown up children as well?
