A Mischief Of Magpies

If the Sun were the size of a beach ball then Jupiter would be the size of a golf ball and a Mischief of Magpies would be as small as a pea.

The Crazy Antics Of The BNP

The Master race at play

I was just having a bit of an old swish round yon internet when I came across a discussion on Pickled Politics about the ongoing trial of Nick Griffin for inciting racial hatred/talking shite in a built up area. I don't know why but every time I see Nick Griffin I burst out laughing, perhaps to stop myself from crying. I feel a bit ambivalent about prosecuting these people as I think the last thing they need is their martyr complexes feeding. Personally I'd have dragged him on to a live TV show, handed him a Qu'ran and asked him to read out the bits which condone rape and child molestation.

I've only had a quick scan of my own copy of the Qu'ran but I haven't been able to turn up anything condoning rape. The quote I believe Mr Griffin was referring to does not in fact condone rape as far as I can tell. My own interpretation of it is that it appears condemn extra-marital sex. The 'except those whom your right hands possess' bit that got Nick so annoyed is not normally interpreted as an invitation to molest any female you can fit under your right arm. I've reproduced the verse I believe Griffin was referring to along with one that precedes it in the same Surah.

From Surah 4

24. Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess: Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions) against you: Except for these, all others are lawful, provided ye seek (them in marriage) with gifts from your property,- desiring chastity, not lust, seeing that ye derive benefit from them, give them their dowers (at least) as prescribed; but if, after a dower is prescribed, agree Mutually (to vary it), there is no blame on you, and Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

19. O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.

It may just be me but if a religion condemns extra marital sex and instructs it's male followers to live with women 'on a footing of kindness and equity' then I think it's safe to assume it takes a pretty dim view of rape. Then again I'm not some tedious hate monger trying to stir up a race war am I?

Anyway I swished about the net a bit more a discovered that the BNP are amongst those that are alleged to have attacked an Irish Republican march in Glasgow yesterday. In fairness they have denied any involvement but then the BNP and their far right chums have been known to deny all sorts of things haven't they? For example the Holocaust. This is something of a puzzle to me, as you may know the BNP do not like the Jews at all and seem to be under the impression that we are all at the mercy of a gigantic worldwide Jewish conspiracy, so why deny the Holocaust? Surely they should be proud of it, arguing that the Nazis were striking a blow against this gigantic Jewish conspiracy that no one can find any credible evidence of. Then again is there really any point trying to apply logic to the rantings of the far right?

There was a piece in the Herald today about the current tactics of the far right in Europe and the US. It seems to revolve around recording bad rock music and some 'snappy logo's', that 'The Kids Go Mad For'. They also seem to have realised that the parents of these kids may be a lost cause due to the fact that they have handed down memories of the war and regardless of how they feel about Muslims, Blacks, Jews etc, they would never vote for a party that aligned itself to neo-nazi ideals.

The BNP seem to reckon that the current generation of 12-16 year olds are badly educated enough and free enough of their parents moral influence to be swayed by the simplistic notions spewed forth in what amounts to an 'Oi!' revival.

The only thing they seem not to have factored into the equation is that 95% of the nations schoolkids wouldn't be seen dead listening to such bilge and will continue to listen to R&B, Hip Hop, Soul, Drum & Bass and Black/Hispanic/Asian influenced music. As God intended they should................

Yes I saw the Herald piece earlier today. If any of this Nazi music is anywhere near as funny as the song they played in their last party political broadcast I can't see anyone being swayed by it.
If you didn't see their party election broadcast you can read my account of it by copying and pasting the link below.

I've been similarly confused by neo-nazi attitudes to the holocaust. I think their official line is that the holocaust didn't happen, but that it's not too late to set that right.

Love the picture of the two troglodytes by the way - who can fail to be persuaded of their innate racial superiotity by that?

A yes the Nazi pin-ups. I suppose you have to admire their self esteem. Not everyone that 'unique' looking could honestly believe that the nation would be a better place if only everyone were more like them.

The woman looks like any number of tattooed 'readers wives' you see of a friday night. It's the slab of meat behind her that gives me the fear.

Yes I agree the fellow behind the 'woman' does look more scary but imagine how scared you'd be if she started shouting. She's very like Mags Haney only uglier, though I suspect equally adept at stripping paint with her voice.

Incidentally ill man, something just occurs to me as I look at the picture. Doesn't their physical appearance bear a more than striking resemblance the average supporter of a very well known Glasgow football team?

What, you mean Maryhill Juniors?

Actually, a quick subway journey at about 1.50pm on a saturday when they're playing at The Hunnery should prove your theory relatively painlessly.
